Pittsburgh ‘Sprodown

Join us on June 26 at 7PM at Voluto Coffee for the PACA ‘Sprodown. With espresso shots pulled by expert baristas, you’ll have the opportunity to sample espresso from many local and national roasters. Espresso is often misunderstood as a strong, bitter, super-caffinated drink. However, at the ’sprodown you’ll find that this is far from the truth. From a blueberry tasting Ethiopian coffee, to a citrus Guatemalan coffee, or a well balanced blend, you’ll find out that a good shot is rarely bitter and is always full of flavor. This is truly a sensory event, and by the end of the night you’ll be able to discern the nuances of the different roasts and regions. No prior experience or knowledge is required, just the desire learn. Suggested donation of $5 to help continue putting on these events.
Special thanks to Voluto Coffee for providing the space; Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea, Intelligentsia Coffee & Tea, Barismo, Gimme! Coffee, Ritual Roasters, 49th Parallel Roasters, Verve, Madcap, Terroir, Metropolis, Counter Culture and La Prima for roasting.
Continue watching this space as we add more roasters and coffeeshops that will be participating. Questions? Are you a roaster or shop that would like to help? Email jakeliefer (at) gmail (dot) com

What is PACA?
Here at PACA we’re all about two things: Pittsburgh and Coffee. We think Pittsburgh has one of the best coffee communities in the country and we’re building on that. A group of shop owners and baristi passionate about coffee have joined together to share knowledge and continue to be at the forefront in the coffee industry. The smaller, more intimate size of our group fosters camaraderie that cannot be found in the larger coffee communities such as Seattle, Portland, or NYC.
PACA exists for both the Pittsburgh community and the larger coffee world. In the local community, we host parties, education events, and coffee cuppings for both baristi and anyone interested in coffee. We also help local shops to reach their full potential through training and education. PACA’s members include shop owners, baristas, roasters, and home enthusiasts. On the larger level, we help to promote Pittsburgh’s quality coffee scene and the knowledge that comes from it. We believe Pittsburgh has the potential to be one of the top cities for quality coffee in the world and look forward to playing an integral role in this growth.
