The Grind is for anyone interested in learning more about coffee; where it comes from, how its made, and the nuances from different growing regions. Experts from coffee shops around the city will be leading hands-on demonstrations and seminars on a variety of topics. This is an event for everyone, from those who just enjoy cup of coffee in the morning to those whose career and passions revolve around coffee. Entrance to the event is $5 and all proceeds benefit The Union Project.

The Grind is a collaboration of several shops coming together. These shops are offering their time, resources, and knowledge:

Phil Johnson is the chief roaster at La Prima Coffee in Pittsburgh's Strip District. He is also co-owner of Beleza, a community coffeeshop located in the Mexican War Streets district in the Northside.
Jake Liefer works at Beaver Falls Coffee & Tea, in the town of Beaver Falls. He also works for CCO, a campus ministry organization, at Geneva College.
Morgan Stewart is the Youth Barista Program Coordinator at Union Project. The YBP engages youth aging out of foster care in learning job skills, most specifically, how to be a barista.
